Global Technology Firm Adding New Facility in River Ridge

Ingram Micro, a global provider of a full spectrum of technology and supply chain products and services to businesses, announced plans today to locate a new facility in Indiana, creating up to 550 new Indiana jobs.

Ingram Micro“Indiana is open for business and global technology companies like Ingram Micro continue to take advantage of our strong business climate and thriving tech communities,” Gov. Eric Holcomb said. “We’re grateful Ingram Micro chose to set-up shop for its fifth location in Indiana, offering good-paying jobs to hardworking Hoosiers.”

The Irvine, California-based company will invest nearly $40 million to lease, renovate and equip a 590,000-square-foot facility in the River Ridge Commerce Center in Jeffersonville. Renovations are currently underway on the facility, which will serve as the $42 billion company’s newest, third-party distribution center, including installation of a high-tech warehouse management and control system. Ingram Micro plans to launch operations in Jeffersonville by early 2018, with plans to be fully operational in the summer.

Ingram Micro currently employs nearly 2,000 full-time and seasonal associates at its Indiana facilities across Indianapolis and Plainfield, serving as part of the company’s global network of 30,000 associates around the world. The company plans to begin hiring at the beginning of the year for office, warehouse, supervisory and management positions for its new Jeffersonville facility. At that time, interested applicants may apply online through Ingram Micro's website

“Ingram Micro has a long and productive relationship with the state of Indiana, and we are excited to expand our operations into Jeffersonville in early 2018,” said Adam Tan, chairman of the board for Ingram Micro. "Governor Holcomb and his team at the IEDC have proven to be great partners in our efforts and this expansion is expected to result in more than 2,400 full-time and seasonal Hoosier jobs across our five facilitates in the state."

Founded in 1979, Ingram Micro helps link the world’s top technology manufacturers, including 1,700 vendors, to customers around the globe. The company’s global operations include 154 logistics centers and 23 service centers which collectively cover 16.2 million square feet in more than 50 countries on six continents.

“We are pleased with the opportunity to bring additional jobs to Indiana, as the state has always provided excellent access to the talent required to help our business continue to succeed,” commented Alain Monié, chief executive officer for Ingram Micro.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Ingram Micro up to $2,900,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $150,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. These incentives are performance based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The city of Jeffersonville supports the project at the request of One Southern Indiana, and Duke Energy has approved additional incentives to offset a portion of the energy costs.

"The city of Jeffersonville is excited Ingram Micro chose to grow its presence here in our city,” said Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore. “By adding jobs and increasing economic activity in the region, Ingram Micro cements its position as a visionary company at the forefront of its industry.”

As the Crossroads of America, Indiana is perfectly positioned to help companies like Ingram Micro reach markets across the country and around the world. In addition to a world-class business climate, Indiana offers companies access to more miles of interstate highway per square mile than any other state, three public ports that connect Indiana to the world’s largest inland waterways and airports that ship products around the world daily.
